way better than a glass cooktop I have had this unit for over 2 years now. I agree with the previous comments.. kinda hard to clean around knobs, stainless is easily scratched and grate is somewhat challenging to get spots off..However, this product is SO much better than the glass(electric) cooktop I had prior. It was AWFUL and I will never have a cooktop like that one again. Impossible to clean, glass cracked and scratched after my first use..which is why i changed to this gas cooktop. I would definitely do that again. My sister has a glass top, gas range and that too is extremely difficult to clean and is forever getting scratched. i have all stainless appliances and they too are easily scratched (nature of the product I believe) I was limited with the options for my existing spot and this one fits great, looks nice and is WAY better than a glass cooktop! GE Gas Cooktop I wanted this cooktop for the space I had to put it in. My only criticism is that the knobs are made of inexpensive material and are too close together which makes it difficult to clean in that area. The downdraft works fine as do the burners. I would recommend this product if there was limited space available for a cooktop. February 14, 2013
This is a terrible choice for a cook top There are several reasons I would not purchase this cook top again. When the down draft is on it almost extinguises the back flames. Water or any full pot of liquid takes forever to come to a boil. The frame and assembly (grate and other pieces) have many nooks and crannys that are difficult to clean. The frame is easily scratched by the grate when reinserting after cleaning. The grates are also difficult to clean. I have had this for less than two years and it looks awful. I am a very careful person my previous gas cook top was over 20 years old and looked almost new. On the other hand (during the remodel) I purchased a GE profile electric double oven and absolutely love it..... December 2, 2012
Bad design, downdraft does not work, control knobs exposed to flame This cooktop has a main flaw, the control knobs are to close to the burners and get overheated by the flames. The Downdraft just doesnt work, the overall design is poor. November 30, 2012
Burner will only light intermittently Left front burner will only light intermittently. Warrentech extended warranty company wants me to agree to pay $100.00 if they find nothing wrong. Paid the money once already for a dishwasher issue that they said nothing was wrong. Extended warranty a joke. November 29, 2012
No option to turn exhaust fan off on the optional side (left side) Before my cooktop was completely installed, I discovered there is no option to turn off the exhaust fan when using the optional (left side) of the cooktop. This little fact is buried in the manual, by the way. I even called customer service to make sure I wasn't overlooking something. I purchased another sealed burner module for the left side of my cooktop so I would have 4 burners. Cooking on the burners located on the left side of the cooktop, not needing to have the exhaust fan running, and not being able to control whether the fan is on or off will drive me crazy. I don't want to use the grill or the griddle, so for me, this feature is annoying. I love the way it looks, but I am going to have to return it. I'm so disappointed. October 26, 2012
This poduct SUCKS It takes 20+ min Just to boil a small pot of water - grates ar too low - we complained and no one from ge wanted to help or do any thing about it - would i buy another product from GE - NO!!! August 30, 2012
Quick cooking - super hot flames - easy to clean! This is my second gas cook top and I love it. I think it is quite easy to clean with the exception of the down draft vent. I have to take my pinky finger and really get in there with a towel to wipe out all of the grease and what not. It is a super hot unit and cooks things very quickly compared to my other gas range. To the prior poster who complained of a low flame, you definitely need to adjust your burner. I can't even use the lowest settings on some of my smaller pots and pans. I actually need to adjust one of my burners to burn at a lower level for smaller pots, like a small saucepan or a butter melting pot. I've only been using it for around 2 months, but I use it on a daily basis and I am in love with it. August 21, 2012
