DESIGN FLAW The upper rack blocks the soap dispenser when in lower position and soap does not dispense properly, dishes do not clean properly. One of the selling points of this model was the adjustable upper rack, but GE says "too bad, either leave the rack in the upper position or use liquid detergent" Would not recommend buying because advertised features do not work properly and their unwillingness to satisfy a customer with a legitimate complaint. Poor rack setup The rack setup allows 7 small bowls. You have to close the drawer very gently to avoid them all flopping forward. I get soap film in my glasses which is obvious when I fill a glass with water and suds form. Not sure if it is the dishwasher or the JetDry rinse agent I'm using. Will have to experiment with different products which takes a long time. Otherwise, I like the sound levels, the style and appearance. March 29, 2013
Finally! This model is actually our third try..........originally had a different model with the plastic tub & SS interior door but had to return/reject the two we received due to a defective, warped tub. So with round 3, we went back to HD to look at other models and chose to upgrade to the full SS tub to avoid the possible problem again. After installing two different dishwashers we found that you must follow ALL the directions completely to achieve the best performance. We have read so many bad reviews on different dishwashers (including this model) and really have to say that the leveling step and making sure your drainage hose climbs upward as they instruct are KEY! Also, it's always a good idea to make sure you run your garbage disposal with hot water turned on before you start your dishwasher every time..............this way you are clearing out any debris and also priming your hot water at the same time. Aside from the sample packs of the Cascade being left in the open dispenser (after two tries we gave up on this type and switched to Finish Powerball tablets), we have a dishwasher that performs VERY quietly and cleans the dishes every time! Even 3 day old dishes and flatware that have never been rinsed off and include peanut butter and oatmeal! We do realize that the best energy consumption is gained by using the normal cycle...............however, with any appliance that cleans things, you cannot expect miracles if you truly have dirty items going in and use a normal cycle. Our belief is that if you have the heavy-duty option, USE IT if you need it! This includes the steam option - it's there to use as a "pre-wash", just like you would pre-wash stains on clothing before you wash them. Again, we love our dishwasher! It performs and it looks very nice in our kitchen! March 18, 2013
It's a good middle of line appliance The dishwasher is very nice in appearance, inside and out but does not have some of the features I liked about the old dishwasher. It does have a stainless steel tub which I like very much. It is adequate in cleaning, but at times leaves soap deposits across front of tub liner. October 16, 2012
This product has poor quality workmanship. When opening the dishwasher to check the door, according to the instructions, the screw that holds the spring broke off. Resulting in the spring going inside the door and a call to warranty service. We haven't got it installed yet. September 5, 2012
This dishwasher does not live up to expectations. This dishwasher had everything I wanted when I saw it at Lowe's, and I had been shopping dishwashers for months. It was tall, with a stainless steel tub, adjustable racks, Steam cylce, hard food disposal, easy glide racks, delay setting, Energy star, whisper quiet, two washing arms, a hidden heating element, a Sanitize cycle and it came in BLACK!! I was so happy, until it was delivered! The only thing it doesn't do is clean dishes!! I tried everything. I tried every cycle, different dish configurations, all the best detergents and rinse agents money could buy. It only ever gets my dishes MODERATELY clean at best, and that's only if I use the Auto and Steam cycles together. It doesn't even clean cups and glasses. DO NOT BUY THIS DISHWASHER!! Very quiet with many features. The dishwasher is quiet and performs extremely well. I would definitely recommend it to family and friends. Loading cereal bowls on top rack takes some getting use to depending on the shape of the bowls. It has many features, some of which we do not use. August 21, 2012
