Ratings and Q&A

Rated 1 out of 5 by from DESTROYS CLOTHES I have had this stupid machine repaired 3 times, now going on 4. They refuse to replace it, it is making me sick to my stomach with stress. Not only does this machine leave black streaks on everything, it tears up my clothes and my linens. I have HAD it with this model and I honestly expected more from GE. As far as I am concerned, they could care less. The attached photos are brand new items that were destroyed in less than 3 months of owning. These are just from my most recent load of laundry, the list of actual damaged items is at least 20 items.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Very bad design problems, tears up clothes We bought this on Feb 12th, it was delivered 3/14/17. We washed two loads and the machine completely ruined all of the towels and underwear. It snagged and pulled everything. There are so many sharp edges inside the washer agitator and the dryer that nothing can survive them in my opinion. They are like small plastic blades. I am trying now to return it. Disappointed is not the half of it! I'm frustrated with the company I bought it from saying they are only the middleman. Fred's Appliances, Missoula. The repair man come out once to diagnose the problem, again, three weeks later to replace the parts. He replaced the agitator, but the dryer part was worse than the one in the machine to begin with. He was very nice and agreed that the machine has some major design flaws, especially all of the sharp edges inside the dryer.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Barely fit space I bought this a couple of weeks ago, so I don't have a long history with it. I love, however, having my own washer/dryer in my apt. For years I had to use community laundry and hated it. So far so good. The water level, I will say, is low.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Ms. ST I brought the washer/dryer combo 7 months and it took one month to get it repaired. Very sensitive machine. Overall the dryer is the best feature.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Warning -- Purchase the Extended Warranty on this We purchased this unit about 15 months ago. At the time of installation, we noticed that the washer was EXTREMELY loud, but our installers assured us that it was operating as it should. Not being appliance experts or repairmen, we trusted them and used the unit accordingly, ignoring the thunks and clunks and whirring that sounded as if an airplane were taking off. Just last week though, a new chirping, squeaking noise occurred when the wash basket was spinning. Since it has been just over a year since purchase, and we did not buy the extended warranty, we called a local repair service that we trust and have used in the past. Our repairman immediately diagnosed our problem as "bad bearings and transmission." He stated that it would cost nearly as much to repair as it would to buy a new washer. In addition, he asked if it had always operated so loudly. When we replied that we were told that was normal for this machine, he strongly disagreed, and believes it was defective from day one. We have purchased many GE appliances over the years with confidence, but if you are thinking of buying this unit, BUY THE EXTENDED WARRANTY!
