Ratings and Q&A

WBVH6240FWW 1.7 5 12 12
poor engineering and assembly paid alot in 06 for washer and dryer, bearing just went out, and mostly spider dis-simular metals set up corrosion, no bearing replacements, lost drive pully from poor fit, lost seal in front, strainer is behind panel and drains about a galloon when cleaning out, just plain dissapointed. I won't make this mistake again July 2, 2013
Great electronics and mechanical I have had this washer for 9 years, the only challenge I have had has been poor quality support. I have had to do my own searching in third party websites to get knowledge on what I now consider easy maintenance that doesn't need to cost us the consumer a penny. Ge should help us maintain our equipment with ease by supplying access, mto user friendly knowledge documents, videos, etc. my model is a pain to access the pump filter that needs to be cleaned routinely, is hard to access the power outlet to run the test modes, but once I knew how, it's a piece of cake. Piece of Junk! This washer has a very poor design. Objects left in pockets go in a trap behind a metal panel. When you go to remove the trap door, buckets of water flow out of tube. My rubber gasket came loose. Currently leaking lots of water. June 13, 2013
Design Flaws Poor design of the spider and shaft attachment to the basket. The material choice conflicts with galvanic reactions due to water, detergent and dissimilar materials. Could have engineered that part better. Also making this part not able to be purchased with a bearing kit separate to the basket itself was poor choice. June 6, 2013
Did not last too long We bought this product in late 2006. It was working fine, except for very long cycles, until now. The basket broke and it costs way too much to have the machine fixed. It's just better to purchase a new one. June 5, 2013
Poor engineering and parts quality doom this machine Even though this washer works well when it is running properly, the quality of engineering and durability is poor. My washer had normal use and was not abused, but it suffered two flywheel failures and subsequently an aft drum bearing failure. Also mold was always a problem on the drum gasket and in the soap, bleach, fabric softener draw. I paid a sizeable sum for what I thought was a superio GE machine and I have been very disappointed. worked ok for a year, then junk have had for about a year. work ok for the most part, but cycles got longer and longer and longer. frequent pausing mid cycle. have had to hit the start button again to get it going a lot. have reset it, drained the pump filter, still issues. very disappointed at this point, and need to have a technician come out to service it at this point. honestly regret buying it at this point. This product has a design flaw After only six years in service this machine broke, the repair man called it a spider. Says the whole drum has to be replaced which means $600. And I quote "it would be cheaper to by a new machine". March 17, 2013
