Ratings and Q&A

Rated 1 out of 5 by from I would give it a zero if I could It didn't last; has severe mold issues; the bearing broke and it started smoking from inside the tub and it had balance issues.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from gets out of balance and needs some redesign The washer gets out of balance and shakes the detergent drawer open regularly. Pulley on back of drum has worn out 3 times in about 5 yrs. $86/each. Gasket on door is now bad and leaking (lots). Expected to be replacing this when I bought it as it's a gasket, but $160 is crazy. New design apparently keeps "stuff" from causing it to tear at the base, very common issue. Former GE Appl employee.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Should have lasted much longer! I bought this 6.5 years ago with the matching dryer. Mostly, the washer works adequately. However, it becomes unbalanced and "walks" very easily, especially with towels or bedding, and this can become very noisy. Also with loads of towels or bedding, the water is not spun out appropriately and I am left with overly soaked laundry. I had to replace the front rubber seal within 2 years for about $140 (part cost, labor was done by my husband). Yesterday, the machine filled my house with smoke and smell of burning rubber and the machine started making a loud knocking noise. After some disassebly and investigation, there is a cast aluminum block inside that the drum is attached to that had cracked. To repalce this part, I am only able to order a drum assembly for $500. Additionally, the damage from this cracking cause the seal to tear. Numerous internet forums have confirmed a design flaw with the machine and the aluminum block. This is completely unacceptable for a 6 year old machine. Aside from the manufacturing quality, the machine did work as it was supposed to about 90% of the time.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from poor quality Torn seal, unable to level, fails to spin. Poor quality.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Would not recommend My husband purchased this set for me 6 years ago and it has been nothing but a nightmare. I would not recommend this set to anyone. From the very beginning the washer would tear clothing. The clothes are still wet at the end of the cycle (since there is not "extra spin" or "spin only" feature) have to run a rinse and spin cycle which is an additional 20 minutes and hope that works with only one extra rinse and spin. The trap is hard to get to and needs to be cleaned regularly so that makes it a nuisance. The tray for the detergent, etc. always has water or product still in it after the cycle. The dryer is not any better. It too "eats" the clothes. The lint trap doesn't exactly trap the lint. Instead it is down in the hard-to-reach area that I find impossible to clean. The dryer is literally falling apart...I mean the drum is still in there but barely and it has wires hanging out. We have duct taped it back together but it is finally dead. We paid over $1600 for the set (not to mention the cost of all the clothing it ruined) and I feel it should've lasted more that 6 years, actually less than that if you count the time frame of taping it together.
