Side-by-Side Refrigerator - How to Align Doors

Door alignment or adjustment can be done on all 2001 and newer Side-by-Side style Refrigerator models. Door alignment is a part of the Refrigerator installation and is not covered under the warranty. All models are shipped with the doors level.

Aligning the Doors

If the doors are uneven on a Side-by-Side Refrigerator, use the bottom door alignment screw to align them by following the instructions below.

  1. Locate the door alignment screw at the bottom of the fresh food door.
  2. Using a 5/16” or 7/16” wrench, turn the door adjusting screw to the right to raise the door or to the left to lower it. A nylon plug embedded in the threads of the pin prevents the pin from turning unless a wrench is used.
  3. After one or two turns of the wrench, open and close the Refrigerator door and check the alignment at the top of the doors.
  4. If necessary, repeat the above steps until the doors are aligned.
You can also get information about aligning the doors in the Installation Instructions for the specific model you own.
