Range & Cooktop - Cookware and Accessories Not Recommended

The following are cookware and accessories that we do not recommend for use with our gas and electric ranges and cooktops.

Gas Ranges and Cooktops:

  • Cooktop Grills: We do not recommend that cooktop grills be used with our sealed burner gas cooktops. Their use may cause incomplete gas combustion and potential exposure to carbon monoxide.

  • Woks: Do not use a wok on a gas range burner if the wok has a round metal ring that is placed over the burner grate to support the wok. This ring acts as a heat trap which may damage the burner grate and burner head. Also, it may cause the burner to work improperly which can create a health hazard.

  • Diffuser: A "diffuser" is a solid or perforated piece of metal used to lower the heat of a burner. Do not use any kind of diffuser or similar product on any gas burner.

Electric Ranges and Cooktops:

  • Wire Trivet: This is a piece of wire (usually triangular in shape) which is used to keep a pan/glass pot from sitting directly on the heating element. We do not recommend the use of a wire trivet on any of our electric ranges, including an electric coil, induction or radiant/halogen surface.

  • Diffuser: A "diffuser" is a solid or perforated piece of metal used to lower the heat of a burner. Do not use any kind of diffuser or similar product on any cooktop burner, including an electric coil, induction or radiant/halogen surface.

  • Silicone mats or grill mats: Although they may be approved for use at higher temperatures, usually the temperature limit is 350F - 450F. The cooking surface could get hotter than this. They are not recommended for use on electric coil, induction, or radiant/halogen burners. They also keep radiant/halogen surface burners from heating/cycling properly.
