Normal Sounds
Cycle | Sound | Reason |
Lid Locking / Sensing | Metallic "Click" | At the beginning of the cycle the lid will lock, creating a clicking noise. |
Child Safety Spray/Precise Fill | Spraying sound | At the beginning of the cycle, you will hear two sprays of water before the machine starts. If you set the Precise Fill option (just for GUD24 and GUD27 models), the basket will then spin up and coast down several times to sense the load. |
Water Fill | Waterfall sound | During the fill cycle, water is being added to the wash basket. |
Agitation | Electric pulsing, grinding, or buzzing sound | During agitation, the agitator rotates in two directions. This makes an electric pulsing, grinding, or buzzing noise. |
Drain | Hum with water sounds; Slurping or gurgling sounds | This sound occurs when the machine begins to pump water out. It will sound like an electronic hum with water flowing out of the unit. When the pump is draining out the last bit of water from the machine, it typically sounds like a slurping or gurgling noise. This is caused by the combination of air and water being pumped out of the machine. |
Agitation to Spin | Metal clanking or clicking | A metal clanking or clicking noise when the unit is going from agitate to spin is the mode shifter shifting from agitate to spin. When the machine is transitioning from agitate to spin, the gears that interlock the agitator and basket are engaging, so the basket and agitator will spin together. |
Spin | Motor "ramping (speeding) up" or "coasting (slowing) down" | When in spin mode, you may notice slight changes to spin speed or spin noise throughout the spin cycle. |
