I fix it from
new window fit not ideal!
these window ac's are not designed for modern vinyl windows. The width is too great, the upper window sash rail is too narrow and does not fit the sash. Had to modify this piece. Slide out chassis is essential for these heavy units, however there is too much open air space between chassis and cabinet. Additional foam is needed to stop outside air drafts. Having to remove the control pad to remove grill is just poor design! This unit replaces an earlier Hotpoint 1200 Btu slide out unit which was superior in quality and fit and still runs by the way. Also, 230 vac is more green than 115 vac.

Good performance; can be improved; solid build
Basic features work fine but the thermostat in energy saver mode allows the room to get too warm before the compressor comes back on. The normal (cool) mode has a much tighter program for compressor recycling. Filter can be easily removed and cleaned. Louvres on the front of the machine do not rotate sufficiently upward. Regular cool mode works well on every fan speed. Buttons on the remote control do not glow in the dark (making it hard to adjust the machine from an unlit bedroom or to locate the remote when the room is dark). Energy saver does not have a dedicated button the remote control. If you want to use the remote to switch to energy saver from the normal (cool) mode, you must first press the Mode button on the remote control until the Mode indicator light on the main unit confirms you are actually in energy saver mode. (Beside being an annoyance people who have limited distance vision or mobility would find that an actual hindrance.) A dedicated energy saver button on the remote would be a better option.
