Opal Ice Maker - Installation of the Side Tank (Models with No Round Button on Front)

Your GE Profile Opal Ice Maker comes with a side water tank accessory that can be installed on the left or right side of the ice maker. With models that don't have a large round button on the front, the side tank has a clip to attach it to the main ice maker.

 

Proper Installation and Location

  • The side tank should be installed flush to the front of the Opal ice maker.

  • The side tank needs to sit on the same level surface as your Opal ice maker.

  • Do not elevate the Opal side tank, or your Opal may overflow.

Before Installing

  1. Hand wash the Opal side tank with mild dish soap and warm water.

  2. Remove the side tank cap and rubber valve, and wash with soap and water.

  3. The base can be washed by disconnecting the hose and adding a small amount of soapy water to it.

  4. Rinse all components well before using the Opal. Do not wash in the dishwasher.

Connecting the Side Tank

  1. Unplug the Opal ice maker.

  2. Unhook the two drain tubes. If this is not the initial installation, be sure to drain the water from the reservoir.

  3. Connect drain tube B (right drain tube) to the back of the side tank base. Make sure it is resting flat on the countertop. It is important to make sure the tube is lying flat, otherwise water may not flow from the side tank into the ice maker.

  4. Make sure drain tube A (left drain tube) is connected to the black hanger and is installed on the back of the Opal.

  5. Place the side tank against the Opal (either left or right side) so that the side magnets attach to the icemaker.

  6. Place the Opal side tank on the right or left-hand side of the ice maker. Using the side tank attachment, slide the shorter side of the attachment under the appliance, near the front of the ice maker. The attachment will slide into a slot on the bottom of the appliance. Once this is placed, the side tank can slide onto the opposite attachment.

  7. Remove the side tank's clear reservoir from its base.

  8. Turn the empty reservoir over, unscrew the side tank cap, and and fill the reservoir with water. Screw the cap back on.

  9. Carefully flip over the reservoir and place it in the base. Water will start flowing into the icemaker. Bubbles are normal as water is flowing into the icemaker.

    • If water is not flowing, check the connections and make sure the drain tube (B) is laying flat on the counter.

  10. Fill the water reservoir if desired.

  11. Plug in the ice maker.
