Solar Water Heater - GeoSpring (ICS) Unit Maximum Efficiency

We have a few tips to offer for getting the most efficient use of your GE GeoSpring™ Internal Collector Storage (ICS) Solar Water Heater:

• Try to make use of hot water more in the evening rather than during the earlier part of the day. For example, you may want to shower at the end of the day rather than in the morning or run your dishwasher in the evening. Wash laundry that needs cooler water in the early part of the day and hot water later in the day.

• The performance of the solar water heater is maximized if it is installed with the solar panel facing due South. If not facing true South, the unit will provide very good performance if it is oriented no more than 45° East or 45° West of true South. However, true South gives the maximum performance.

• The solar panel (collector) should be in unobstructed direct sunlight from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM every day of the year.
