Range - How To Pull Out For Cleaning
Please follow the instructions below if you need to pull out a Free-Standing or Slide-In range from its location. This will enable you to access areas underneath, behind and to the sides of your range for cleaning or service.
-
Disconnect power to the range at the house circuit breaker or fuse box. For gas models, the gas line does not need to be disconnected. However, check the gas line and power cord to make sure that they are not tangled or caught.
-
For models with storage drawers, these drawers may be removed for cleaning under the range:
-
Removing the Storage Drawer:
-
Pull drawer straight out until it stops.
-
Continue to pull the drawer until it is detached from the oven.
-
-
Replacing the Storage Drawer:
-
Rest the left drawer rail around the inner left rail guide and slide it in slightly.
-
Place the right drawer rail around the inner right rail guide and slide it in slightly.
-
Slide the drawer all the way in.
-
-
-
Make sure the range is cleared off and nothing is leaning against it. Removing the grates on gas ranges and the oven racks on all ranges will make it a little easier to manage.
-
When sliding the range forward, lift up the front to ensure that the front leveling legs clear any obstacles or differences in flooring. To lift up, you can lift up on the top of the oven cavity, just make sure not to lift on the broil heating element.
-
During this process, do not pull the range by the door handle.
-
Refer to the Installation Instructions for information on the Anti-Tip device for your specific model.
-
For newer models, the leveling leg bracket slides over one of the rear leveling legs when you slide the range into place. You should be able to just pull the range forward until it slides out from under the bracket.
-
-
-
Once the front leveling legs are clear, set them back down on something to protect the floor; for example, a moving blanket, large piece of cardboard or something similar.
-
Continue sliding the range forward until the rear leveling legs are at the front of the cabinet opening. Lift the rear of the range so that the rear leveling legs clear any difference in flooring and continue sliding the range out.
