Automatic Espresso Machine - Descaling Process

It is important for you to descale your GE Profile™ Automatic Espresso Machine. It is recommended to descale once a month or more depending on the water hardness in your area. A descale alert will appear when it is time to run a descale cycle for the best operation and life span of the machine. Water hardness strip can be used to measure your water hardness and adjust the frequency of the descale alert accordingly by using the SmartHQ™ App.

Listed below are instructions for descaling your Espresso Machine. These instructions are for the models P7CEBAS6RBB and P7CEBBS6RBB. The descale process consists of two stages. The descale alert will automatically turn off after the descale process is complete. The whole descale process is expected to last 30 to 40 minutes from start to finish.

Please Note: Allow the heating element to completely cool to avoid risk of fire or injury and disconnect power prior to cleaning or service.

CAUTION: To avoid possible burns to body parts and/or other injury from hot steam, do not touch liquids or the steam wand during or after steaming. Do not remove the milk pitcher until steaming is complete. Hold the milk pitcher by the handle.

Descaling Process:

Do not use any cleaning agents not provided with this product or recommended in the Owner's Manual.

STAGE 1:

  • Fully fill the water tank.

  • Pour one pack of cleaning solution into the water tank and mix well.

  • Remove the Drip Tray and place a 45 ounce or larger container under the spout or spouts on a Steam model.

  • Press and hold down the Hot Water and Steam (for Steam machines) buttons or My Brew and Hot Water (for Coffee only machines) buttons for 3 seconds to initiate the descaling process. A single beep sounds, all buttons turn off and the Descale alert starts to flash.

  • Water starts dispensing into the container.

  • After all the water is dispensed, the Descale alert stops flashing and stays On. The Add Water alert starts to flash.

STAGE 2:

  • After Stage 1 is complete, remove, rinse, fully refill and reinstall the water tank. The Add Water alert will go off.

  • Repeat Steps 3 to 5 from Stage 1.

  • After all the water is dispensed, the Descale alert turns Off. The Add Water alert turns on.

  • Refill the water tank again. The unit is now ready for normal operation.
