Ice Maker - How to Change Water Filter

The UNC15NPRII Nugget Ice Maker and UCC15NPRII Clear Ice Maker feature water filtration. The Ice Maker uses the GSWF water filter cartridge. The GSWF integrated ice maker premium filter is certified to reduce lead, particulates, chlorine-resistant cysts, and 5 other impurities from your ice.

 

The water filter cartridge is located at the bottom of the Ice Maker behind the water filter access door.

 

The "Replace Filter" indicator light will come on when it is time to order a filter. This will occur after approximately 5 months or earlier after periods of heavy icemaking. The "Replace Filter" indicator light will flash when it is time to replace the filter. This will occur after approximately 6 months or earlier after periods of heavy icemaking.

 

Here is how you replace the water filter cartridge:

 

Removing the Filter-

  1. Make sure power to the Ice Maker is turned off. Make sure the Making Ice light is not on.

  2. Open the water filter access door by pulling on the top of the door until it flips open.

  3. Gently grasp the filter and slowly turn it to the left about a 1/4 turn or 90 degrees until you can pull it out. A small amount of water may drip out of the filter.

Installing the Filter-

  1. Open the water filter access door by pulling on the top of the door until it flips open.

  2. Insert the filter until it aligns in the filter housing.

  3. Slowly turn the filter to the right until it stops. Do not overtighten the filter. As you turn the filter, it should automatically adjust itself into position. The filter will move about a 1/4 turn or 90 degrees when it is in the correct position.

  4. Gently close the filter access door until it snaps into place.

  5. Press and hold down the "Filter" button/pad for 3 seconds to reset the filter indicator light.

Also, should you not want to use a water filter in your Ice Maker, a water filter bypass plug must be used in order for the Ice Maker to function. To obtain a bypass plug, call 1-800-432-2737 and request the water filter bypass plug, part number WR17X22073. In Canada, call 1-800-561-3344.

 

Please Note: The left side panel will need to be removed to install a water filter bypass plug. Be sure to unplug the Ice Maker before trying to install a bypass plug.
