Semi Automatic Espresso Machine - Grinder Clogging or Not Working
Your semi-automatic espresso machine grinds coffee beans before it brews your coffee, so it's important to take steps to keep the grinder from getting clogged. The below tips will help you clear the grinder if it is clogged, and will help keep it from clogging.
Keeping the Grinder Clean
We recommend cleaning the grinder at least once a week, but many users find brushing out the grinder every time helps it work better.
Place a cup or container under the Grinder to collect loose grounds of coffee.
Remove the Bean Hopper from the Espresso Machine.
Rotate to unlock and then pull out the Outer Burr.
Use the brushes that came with your Espresso Machine to wipe away any grounds from the grinder. Clean the Grinder from the top to the bottom of the Grinder chute.
Place the Outer Burr back into the Espresso Machine and rotate to lock.
Place the Bean Hopper back into place.
Note: Do not use your hands to wipe away coffee grounds. Only use the brushes provided.
Adjusting the Grind Size
The grind size is adjustable. A finer grind means there is more exposed surface area of the grounds, resulting in faster extraction. If you're finding that the grinder is getting clogged often, even if you clean it regularly, try adjusting the grind to a more coarse setting. We recommend starting with a setting between 7 and 9.
