GE Profile™ UltraFast Combo Washer/Dryer - Clothes Not Dry When Drying Cycle is Complete
To help prevent over-drying, your GE Profile™ UltraFast Combo with Ventless Heat Pump Technology uses sensors, lower temperatures, and high air-flow to achieve optimal care of your laundry during your dry cycle. Because the UltraFast Combo dries clothes at a consistent temperature in a sealed drum, they may not feel as dry or as warm as you may be used to with past dryers.
Clothes Feels Slightly Damp
At the end of the cycle, certain items and the air inside may feel slightly humid due to the air-tight seal. This is to be expected! Simply remove the items giving them a quick shake and they will feel dry in seconds.
If your clothes still need a little extra drying, try the “
More Dry” option to add more drying time.
Clothes Are Very Damp or Wet
Software Update
The UltraFast Combo is a Smart appliance. Keeping it connected to WiFi means you will always be notified through the SmartHQ app when software updates are available. These software updates can optimize your Combo's performance and address any potential drying issues. When software is up-to-date and your clothes are very damp or even wet, below are the situations that could cause this, and what you can do to correct them.
Door Openings
Opening the door multiple times to check the drying progress can affect the drying capability of your Combo. Restarting the Combo after each door opening takes 5-10 minutes, so frequent openings could give the perception of poor performance.
Load Out of Balance
If there's an out-of-balance condition detected, the Combo tries to correct the out-of-balance condition and complete the cycle normally. When this happens, the SPIN LED will blink after 5 attempts at trying to ramp up the load to the selected spin speed but still resulting in an out-of-balance load. The SPIN LED will continue to blink through the remainder of the cycle and then stay on for a short time after the cycle is finished.
In some cases, however, the Combo may not be able to balance the load and spin at full speed. It will slow the spin speed down to 410 rpm if it has a hard time balancing the load. This speed is normal in this situation.
If you notice the load is more wet than normal at the end of the cycle:
- Redistribute the load evenly in the wash basket and run a Rinse & Spin cycle.
- If you're washing a small load containing both heavy and light items, increase the load size
- If washing a large quilt or comforter, we recommend adding something else to the load to help it balance out when spinning.
- Make sure not use significantly different materials, like blankets and sheets, that absorb different amounts of water. To reduce cycle time, load similar materials so more water will come out in the wash final spin with fewer out-of-balance issues and a shorter, more accurate dry performance.
Pump Filter Is Clogged
“Check and Clean Drain Pump Filter” will display when the Combo detects a restriction in the drain area, usually because items (ex. coins) are interfering with water drainage. If the appliance can't drain well, clothes are going to stay wet even after the dry cycle. If the message doesn't appear but your clothes are wet, it's still a good idea to check the pump filter as normal troubleshooting and maintenance.
Drain Hose and Drain Installation
It's important that the drain hose is installed properly and can drain well. You'll want to verify that the drain hose is not kinked, improperly connected to the washer, or having issues at the standpipe.
- Straighten the drain hose. Make sure nothing is pressing against the drain hose or pinching it.
- The standpipe (drain pipe) must be capable of eliminating 10 gallons per minute. If it can't, either because it is too narrow (1-1/4" min diameter), positioned too high or too low, or is clogged, you may need to call a plumber.
- The standpipe must be located no lower than 24" from the floor and no higher than 96".
- Confirm that the drain hose is not pushed too far down the standpipe.
- It should not be inserted more than 7" into the drain pipe.
- There needs to be space (called an air gap) around the drain hose in the standpipe. A snug fit can cause a siphoning action.
