GE Profile™ UltraFast Combo Washer/Dryer - Will Not Start or Run
If your GE Profile™ UltraFast Combo Washer/Dryer will not come on, don't worry. Before considering calling for service, here are a few things you can check yourself.
Is This a New Installation?
If you just installed your Comb and it doesn't seem to be coming on, make sure the protective film is removed and that is isn't still in self-check mode.
- Protective Film on Display - The display panel has a protective film (sticker) on the screen that is peeled off when it is installed. If the film is not removed, it could keep the touchscreen from responding. Gently peel back a corner of the film and pull slowly across until it has been removed.
- Automatic Self System Check - The first time the Combo is plugged in, there will be automatic checks that occur for up to 20 seconds. You won't be able to use your Combo during this time.
Doesn't Have Power
If there aren't any lights or sounds with the display, check the power source to the Combo.
- Plug/Outlet - Check to make sure the Combo is plugged into a working outlet. It should be on its own dedicated grounded 15 or 20 amp circuit breaker or time-delay fuse.
- Circuit Breaker - Make sure the circuit breaker in your home's electrical box has not tripped.
Has Power But Not Running
If there's power to the display but you can't change the settings or start a cycle, make sure the Control Lock feature isn't engaged. Your Combo lets you lock the controls to keep selections from accidentally being made when the Combo isn't in use. If the control buttons and display are unresponsive and only beeps , make sure the control lock hasn't been set.
To lock or unlock the Combo controls - Press and hold the Extra Rinse button for 3 seconds. This acts as the control lockout. When you lock or unlock the controls, you'll hear a sound, and the control lock icon will light up on the display. You will be able to use the Power button when the Control Lock is active.
