Range - Crisp Mode

Select model GE Appliances ranges offer the Crisp Mode feature, which uses the bake and broil elements to deliver air-fry-like results without the need for a convection fan. This feature is a special mode that is designed to produce foods with a crispier exterior than traditional oven cooking. Perfect for your favorite fried foods, this mode uses a 2-minute preheat to get to temperature, then delivers fantastic crispy results.

How to Use the Crisp Mode

The Crisp Mode is intended for single-rack cooking only. To use this mode:
  1. Press the Crisp pad.
  2. Use the +/- pads to set the desired temperature.
  3. Press Start.
You can set the temperature between 300 ºF and 500 ºF. When setting the temperature and cooking time, simply follow your recipe or the baking guidelines found on your packaged foods. Adjust the cook time to achieve your desired crispness. While in use, you may notice the oven heaters cycling on and off as needed to maintain appropriate cooking conditions. It's important to avoid frequently opening the oven door, as this can impact the cooking times and performance.

Crisp Mode Cookware Guidelines

  • Only use broil-safe cookware when using Crisp Mode.
  • A dark sheet pan is highly recommended because it promotes better browning and crisping of your food.
  • Oven baking baskets and baking grids can also be used when using the Crisp Mode. A sheet pan should be placed on the rack below the foods to catch any drippings when using a baking basket.

  • If foods are browning too quickly, try a lower rack position or a lower oven set temperature.
  • It is not necessary to flip or stir food during cooking.
  • Arrange food in a single layer on the pan; do not overload the pan.
  • Always check the internal food temperature to confirm the minimum safe temperature has been reached. Minimum safe food temperatures can be found on packages and at FoodSafety.gov.
