Opal Ice Maker - Seeing "Add Water" or Not Making Ice When Using Scale Inhibiting Filter

The Scale Inhibiting Filter is designed to increase the time between cleaning and descaling  by using a water filter that inhibits scale build-up and removes chlorine and VOCs. It can be used with any of our GE Profile™ Opal Ice Makers. This scale inhibiting filter does not eliminate the need to clean and descale; instead, it extends the time needed before maintenance.

The scale inhibiting filter will filter 40 gallons of water before needing to be replaced. Replacement will be approximately every 3 months, though it will depend on your usage.

Not Working and/or Add Water Notification on Control

When it is past time to replace the filter, you may notice that your ice maker is no longer making ice. You may also notice the ADD WATER notification, even though you have water in the reservoir. If either of these things occurs, replace the scale inhibiting filter with a new Opal Replacement Water Filter (P4INKFILTR) or the Opal Scale Inhibiting Filter
