Side-by-Side Refrigerator - Door Alarm
The Door Alarm feature helps ensure food preservation is maximized by signaling if the door as been left ajar. For Side-by-Side Refrigerators with a Door Alarm feature, when the door has been left open longer than 3 minutes, a beeping signal will sound. Excessive warm air filtration into a Refrigerator rapidly increases the inside temperature. Temperatures higher than 44 degrees can result in rapid food spoilage as well as additional energy needed to re-cool the interior.
Note: The alarm will not sound if door is open 1/2 to 3 inches.
Using the Door Alarm Feature
- There is a Door Alarm touch pad on the Refrigerator control panel. To set the alarm, press this pad until the indicator light comes on. This alarm will sound if either door is open for more than 3 minutes. The light goes out and the beeping stops when you close the door.
- Should you need to turn off the Door Alarm when the doors need to be open for an extended period of time, such as during cleaning or repair, simply press the Door Alarm pad to turn off the feature prior to opening the doors.
- Instructions for turning the Door Alarm ON or OFF are in the Owner's Manual for the specific model you own.
