Dishwasher - Hidden Vent, ActiveVent, or Concealed Vent Feature

Concealed Vent with Fan Assist Dry

May also be called Hidden Vent or ActiVent. Found on all models without a visible vent on the front (primarily top-control models), the vent is concealed inside the dishwasher door. This provides a clean appearance, seals in sound during the wash cycle, and protects against venting damage to countertops such as Corian or granite. Note: Do not use the dishwasher if the vent cover is not in place on the inside of the door.

Air is pulled from the tub with an efficient 10 watt fan. The fan drives the moist air down a condensation tube, where any remaining drops of moisture are released within the door to a moisture proof trough in the lower inner door. By the time the moisture reaches this part of the door, the moisture has been reduced to a few drops. Moisture then drains back into the bottom of the tub and away from the dish load.

The high-efficiency fan will run quietly for 30 minutes to 4 hours (depending on selected cycle) after the CLEAN light is illuminated to continue drying the dishes. This can be interrupted by opening the door and pressing any keypad.

Found on older GE Profile Series models:

ActiveVent IIGE's ActiveVent II, introduced in fall 2001, has a new and improved seal to help further reduce overall sound levels. It closes to seal in the sound during the wash cycle, then opens to help speed the drying cycle.

ActiveVentGE's unique ActiveVent helps keep the GE Profile™ Series dishwasher even quieter! It closes during all wash cycles to isolate wash water sounds inside the tub where it belongs. After the washing and rinsing is complete, the vent opens to allow silent convection drying.

Note: If "PF" continues to flash in the display window and it cannot be cleared, it is possible that the ActiveVent is stuck partially up or partially down. This will put the control in a PF mode. Usually, pushing the vent down with your finger and hitting clear will correct the problem.
