Top Load Washer - How to Drain and Spin a Wash Cycle on Electronic Control Models
There may be a time when you need to stop your Washer and drain and spin out the water. The information below tells you how to do this on a Top Load Washer that has either electronic controls with knobs or with touch pads.
Electronic Control Models with Knobs
- Pressing the "Start/Pause" button or raising the lid while the Washer is operating will pause the wash cycle and the cycle indicator light will blink. The Washer will automatically drain any time the lid is left open for more than 15 minutes and water is present. The Washer will automatically drain if left in a paused state with the lid closed for more than 24 hours and water is present. If you need to drain out the water and spin the clothes, you must select the "Spin Only" or "Drain and Spin" cycle, then press the "Start/Pause" button.
- You may drain and spin a cycle during any wash cycle. While the Washer is operating, turn the Cycle Selector knob to "Spin Only" or "Drain and Spin." The Washer will stop and reset the cycle to the new selection. Press the "Start/Pause" button to begin the new cycle selection.
Electronic Control Models with Touch Pads
- If the Washer is running, press the "Start/Pause" pad once to interrupt the cycle, then select "Drain and Spin" and press the "Start/Pause" pad again.
- If the "Stop" pad has been selected and the Washer is still full of water, select "Drain and Spin" and then press "Start". Please note, after selecting "Pause" or "Stop", if no other selections are made within 24 hours the Washer will drain the water.
