Washer - Knocking Noise During Agitation or Spin Cycle
Washers make many sounds while in use. A knocking noise is often heard during the agitation or spin portion of the wash cycle.
Understanding the Knocking Noise When a Washer Is In Use
A knocking noise, often described as a metallic knock, double knock, or metallic clunk, during agitation or spin is a normal sound. This sound occurs when the Washer transitions from a stop or paused state to running in spin. It happens several times a cycle after the speed changes or pauses and is caused by two components in the drive system engaging quickly.
- Many Washers have features such as pulse agitation and pauses during rinse and spin for reduced clothes wear and to reduce likelihood of soap residue. These short pauses of less than 1 minute are normal and will reduce clothing wear and increase water extraction.
