Electric Range & Wall Oven - Cleaning Melted Plastic or Foil on Coil Surface Burners or Oven Elements
Should you accidentally melt a bit of foil or plastic onto a surface burner or oven element, you may be able to remove this without the need for service. Sometimes, the foil or plastic may have bonded to the element and will not come off. Also, should foil or plastic melt directly onto the bottom of the oven liner, it is very likely that it has bonded to the surface of the oven liner.
Removing Foil or Plastic from an Electric Surface Burner or Oven Element
To remove melted plastic or foil from electric cooktop coil burners or oven elements, please follow the directions below:
Turn on the Range Hood or Vent that is above the Range or Cooktop.
Turn the surface burner/Calrod® element on and let it warm up. Be careful to not warm up the burner/element too much or it may burn the utensil used to scrap off the melted plastic or foil.
When the plastic or foil softens, gently scrape as much off as possible using a wooden spoon or spatula.
Turn the burner or element on high and allow the rest of the plastic or foil to burn off.
