Appliance - Rust
It is important to properly maintain the paint or finish on your appliances. Proper maintenance helps prevent the possibility of rust forming on an appliance. Consult the Owner's Manual for the specific appliances you own for information on cleaning and maintenance.
Why Appliances Rust
Paint is applied to bare metal to prevent oxidation of moisture on the metal, causing rust. After many washings, handling the appliance, and in high humidity areas, the paint eventually becomes porous or wears thin, and moisture gets through to the metal and rust begins. It sometimes appears that the appliance is rusting from the inside out, but it is actually originating from the surface.
