Electric Range & Wall Oven - Preheat Cycle
This article explains the engagement or use of the heating elements in an electric oven during the preheat cycle.
Understanding the Operation of the Preheat Cycle in an Electric Oven
When your oven is preheating, the bake and broil elements will cycle on and off. The oven will use the bake element, the broil element and in some models the convection element for preheating. In ovens with the convection feature, the convection fan will come on during preheat in the conventional cycle also, but will go off when the oven reaches temperature.
This sequence will continue until your oven reaches the set temperature.
