Upright & Chest Freezer - Installation and Location

To obtain efficient operation, a freezer should be installed properly. Follow these guidelines for the best location for your freezer:

• Place the freezer where the surrounding external temperatures will not exceed 110 degrees F. or fall below 0 degrees F.

• Position the freezer in a dry, well ventilated room. Do not install it in a closet.

• Be sure to install the freezer on a floor strong enough to support it fully loaded.

• Place it solidly on the floor. If the floor is uneven, use shims to level the freezer.

• For current 12 cu. ft. and larger chest freezers, allow for a 2" air clearance on each side and a 2" air clearance in the back of the freezer.

• For current 11 cu. ft. and smaller chest freezers, allow for a 3" air clearance on each side and a 3" air clearance in back of the freezer.

• For all current upright freezers, allow for a 3" air clearance on each side, a 3" air clearance in the back and a 3" air clearance at the top.
