Gas Burner Operation and Performance
The BTU* output of your gas burners determines the speed at which your cooktop will boil water. Using LP (liquid propane) gas instead of natural will lower the BTU* output, thus slowing the cooking process.
- If your stove has a maximum output burner, this is the burner that will give you the fastest boil. Normally, this burner is the right front burner. As long as your flame is blue, your rangetop is cooking at its proper performance level.
- If your range is new and your flame is not blue, we recommend that you check with your installer and/or the gas company so that proper adjustments can be made.
*A BTU or "British Thermal Unit" is the amount of heat required to change the temperature of one pound of water by one degree Fahrenheit, and is a measure of the heating capability of the burner.
