Refrigerator - Yellow Substance

It is possible that you may notice a yellow substance in the seam of the case of a new refrigerator. While not seen often, this is a normal occurrence.

Understanding the Yellow Substance In the Case Seam of a Refrigerator

The yellow-white substance between the case and refrigerator/freezer liner is called the Hotmelt. It is a caulk-like material that is used as a sealant. Hotmelt is used during the manufacturing process, and it may ooze out as it cures. Should some of this hardened material be visible, you can remove it by picking it off, or use a mild rubbing compound.
