Refrigerator - Rust on the Ice Bucket Auger

The auger (spiral) inside the ice bucket is chrome-plated steel or plastic. On steel models, if it is scratched, chipped or worn away by hard water it will expose the steel. When exposed to the cold moist conditions of the refrigerator, the steel can start to rust.

There is no way to stop the rust once it starts, and the auger will have to be replaced. This is a very difficult repair and should be handled by a service technician. For service, please schedule an appointment with Bodewell.
