Dishwasher - How to Remove Mildew

A dishwasher may never get a mildew build-up at all. However, some variables such as the frequency of use, location (such as high humidity locations), or routine care could influence the possibility of seeing mildew since the interior is a moist environment.

Removing Mildew From Inside a Dishwasher

To remove mildew from the interior or gasket of the dishwasher, please perform the following procedure.

1. Mix 3 cups of water with 1/2 cup of bleach.
2. Using the solution listed above and a cloth or sponge, thoroughly clean the gasket or dishwasher interior to remove the mildew.
3. Run the dishwasher through a rinse cycle to remove any residual cleaner prior to the next use. This will not harm the interior, gasket, or outside surface of the dishwasher.

Do not use abrasive cleaners or concentrated cleaners. Under no circumstances should you ever mix chlorine bleach and ammonia. Doing so could create toxic fumes.
