Location
Don't install the water heater in outdoor, unprotected areas. Protect your water heater and water lines from freezing temperatures and high corrosive atmospheres.
Locate the water heater in a clean, dry area as close as practical to where there's the greatest demand for heated water. Long, uninsulated hot water lines can waste energy and water.
Clearances
The GEOSPRING™ hybrid water heater draws in air from the room to heat the water. As a result, the room must be at least 10' x 10' x 7' (700 cubic feet) or larger. If the room is smaller, there must be a louvered door or two louvered sections (one at the top and one at the bottom of the door/wall) for airflow. Each of these vents should have at least 240 square inches of open airflow area. Alternatively, you can use a GE Appliances PH10VK Ducting Kit in small areas.
