GE Profile™ GEOSPRING™ Hybrid Heat Pump Water Heater - Power Outage
The water heater can't work without electrical power. When the water heater is initially powered up or when power is restored after a power outage, it will go through the sequence below.
Start-Up Sequence
0 to 3 Minutes
- Unit will go through self-check.
- Fan will turn on after 1 minute.
This ~3-minute off-time prevents compressor damage. A clicking noise may be heard during startup.
3 to 12 Minutes
- Compressor turns on.
- Fan continues to run.
This ~9-minute period is used to ensure the tank is full of water (dry-fire prevention). If no water is detected, a F75 Fault code will display.
12 Minutes and Beyond
- Compressor turns off (Fan will run for 30 minutes after any compressor operation).
- Normal heating operation resumes.
Heating After Start-Up
The water heater will revert to the last settings programmed. If the water in the tank is no longer hot, the GEOSPRING may operate in Hybrid mode during the initial heating period. It will start with standard electric heating elements to quickly heat the water, then switch to the more efficient heat pump for the majority of heating (unless you had it set for Standard Electric mode already).
