GeoSpring Hybrid Electric Water Heater Vacation Mode

Vacation Mode can be used when you are away from home for an extended period and hot water is not needed. In this mode, the temperature set point will drop the water temperature down to 50°F and will use the most efficient heating mode to conserve energy while the heater is sitting idle. The unit will automatically resume heating one day before the programmed return, so that hot water will be available.

If the unit is in a seasonal home or will be idle for an extended vacation, you may want to consider turning off the power and water to it, and draining the tank per the instructions in the owner's manual. This will conserve energy, guard against unexpected leaks, and prevent a buildup of dangerous hydrogen gas. You can shut off the power to the GeoSpring at the circuit breaker in your breaker box since there is no power button. The water heater should definitely be drained if it will be subjected to freezing temperatures.
