Dishwasher - Not Enough Water
To minimize the possibility of electric shock, unplug this appliance from the power supply or turn the house circuit breaker/fuse that supplies power to the appliance to the off position before attempting any maintenance or cleaning.
A Dishwasher does not properly clean the dishes without the correct amount of water in the tub. Should you notice a reduction in the amount of water entering your Dishwasher, please review the following information prior to scheduling repair service.
Diagnosing a Dishwasher That Is Not Getting Enough Water
Inlet Hose
If not enough water is entering the Dishwasher, check to make sure that the water inlet hose connected to the Dishwasher is not kinked.
Inspect the water inlet hose by removing the toe-kick plate on the front, bottom of the Dishwasher.
The water valve and hose connection is usually located on the lower, left side of the Dishwasher.
Inspect the inlet hose for possible kinks, bends or wear.
Water Pressure
Not enough water can also occur if your water pressure is low.
Dishwashers require 20 to 120 PSI.
The water line should be 3/8" O.D. (outside diameter) minimum copper tubing. Using a water line that is too small will restrict proper water flow into the Dishwasher.
Water Supply Line
If the water supply to the Dishwasher is only partially open, water going into the Dishwasher would be restricted.
The water supply line and shut-off valve for the Dishwasher is usually located under the kitchen sink.
Make sure the shut-off valve is turned on and fully open: counter-clockwise (left) is open and clockwise (right) is closed.
Repair Service Required
