The type of power cord as well as length of the power cord on a microwave has varied over the years. Current microwave models typically share the same power cord type and length. Understanding the Type and Length of a Power Cord on a Microwave
Over-the-Range Microwaves
- Most over-the-range microwaves have an approximately 40" power cord, including the plug and base of the cord.
Countertop Microwaves
- Most models have an approximately 39" power cord.
- Countertop Only models: The plug is a straight plug that sticks out approximately 2".
- Built-in capable and models with hanging kits: The plug is a flat (also called 90 degree) plug.
Drawer-Style Microwaves
- Uses a power cord. Has a right angle (flat) plug that is 54" long, including the plug.
