Ice Maker - Leaking
This article provides information regarding a Stand Alone Ice Maker leaking water. This is not an article about the automatic icemaker inside a Refrigerator. It is normal for water to drip from the cutter grid and into the ice bin during the ice harvest cycle in a Stand Alone Ice Maker. This is due to the process of cutting the ice slab into cubes.
Diagnosing Water Leaking from a Stand Alone Ice Maker
You can check the following if the Ice Maker is leaking in an attempt to resolve the concern.
- If water is leaking from the reservoir, the drain cap may not be secure. Make sure that the drain cap at the bottom of the reservoir is in place and securely tightened.
- The drain tube may not be aligned with the house drain. Make sure the appliance has not been moved, causing the drain tube and standpipe to not be aligned.
- Check the household drain to make sure it is not clogged.
- The Ice Maker may not be level. Check the Installation Instructions for your model or contact the installer to ensure the Ice Maker is installed properly.
- The water supply or drain hose may be improperly installed or damaged. If an optional drain pump kit has been installed with the Ice Maker, check all connections to make sure there are no leaks, including where the drain tube enters the house drain. If problems persist, we recommend service.
