Note: Rare beef is popular but it is not recommended to cook beef at a temperature of only 140 degrees Fahrenheit. The safest way to use your microwave oven for cooking foods is to:
- Carefully observe the suggested standing times. Let the food stand outside the oven covered with a casserole lid, plastic wrap, wax paper or foil to retain the heat and allow full cooking.
- Test for doneness with a meat thermometer before and after standing time.
- Do not use the microwave for home canning. Pressure can build up and cause the jars to explode.
