Microwave Auto Roast

The Auto Roast feature takes the guesswork out of microwaving by temperature. It automatically senses the internal temperature of meat or dish with a probe, and adjusts the power level to provide slow, even, exact cooking results. This works well with stews, soups and sauces.

Auto Roast uses the automatic temperature control (probe) to cook at the desired serving temperature. Unlike the temperature cook which uses a single power level, the automatic roasting uses up to three power settings (60, 30, 20 percent powers) which automatically switch during roasting, thus providing slow even cooking results without overcooking. Less tender cuts should be microwaved by time at a lower power level to slowly cook for a long period of time.

For the microwave only models, when using the Auto Roast, the microwave will automatically go into "hold" just like the temperature cook/hold, and will stay that way for at least an hour (in some models it will remain in hold indefinitely).

For the microwave/convection models, when using the auto roast, the unit will shut off at the end of the cycle and does not go into a hold pattern. The chart in the Owner's Manual represents the recommended stand time for each food before serving. Download a copy of the Owner's Manual.

Note: Auto roast cannot be used to reheat whole roasts. It should be used for tender cuts of meat. Less tender cuts should be cooked by time with liquid added.

Auto roast feature on the micro/convection models will use both microwave and convection functions. During this operation, the microwave mode and convection mode will cycle on and off continually. (i.e.: the convection fan and heating element are on for a few seconds or more -depending on the code set, and how far it is into the cooking cycle. Then the microwave -mode comes on -hearing the hum of the magnetron with the sound of the convection fan going off). This cycling back and forth will continue through the cooking process until the food product reaches a set temperature.
