Top Load Washer - Excess Suds
In a Top Load washer, detergent mixes with water and air to form suds. Over-sudsing is usually caused from excessive splashing of water and suds.
Preventing Over-sudsing / Excess Suds In a Top Load Washer
If a small amount of water appears on the floor at the end of a wash cycle, it may be splashing down the overflow tube because of over-sudsing. The washer agitator is designed to reduce excessive splashing and the introduction of air into your wash. Additionally, it increases the number of times your clothes are turned over during the wash process, which produces a better wash.
Over-sudsing is especially common in houses that have water softeners.
Reduce the amount of detergent that you are using, which in turn should eliminate any leaks.
In addition, some fabrics or items such as towels, sweaters, or blankets will retain soap over time, which could cause over-sudsing.
We recommend occasionally washing these items without soap to remove any built-up soap residue.
