Older Top Load Washers Manufactured Prior to 1995
Many older Top Load Washers had a Soak Cycle feature. It was selected differently than on newer Top Load Washer models.- Offered a 15, 30 or 60 minute Soak cycle. The Soak cycles were tagged on to the beginning of either a Prewash cycle or Extra-Cleaning cycle to allow you to soak dirty clothes before the main wash action began.
- When the Soak cycle was selected, it agitated for four minutes after filling to the water level selected, then stopped and soaked. Every 15 minutes, the Washer agitated for four minutes to help circulate the clothes and detergent.
- At the end of the soak time, the timer automatically advanced to either the Prewash or Extra-Cleaning cycle. There was no need to make another trip to the Washer to advance or reset the controls. Note: Some models did not offer the automatic advance feature.
