Understanding the Use of Hi-Temp Wash and Rinse Options on a Dishwasher

Electronic Control Models

The calrod heating element heats the water for the pre-rinse and main wash portions of the cycle. It brings the wash temperature to the proper levels for dissolving detergent, food fats, starches, sugars, and grease (maximum of 140 degrees Fahrenheit). Models with a Hidden Heater have a heater in the wash pump assembly that heats incoming hot water to boost water temperature.

Electro-Mechanical Control Models

The calrod heating element energizes an additional five minutes during the main wash portion of the cycle only. It is ideal when the hot water supply has been depleted due to baths or laundry.

This cycle will not sanitize, nor will it sterilize. A temperature above 180 degrees is required for sterilization.

Hi-Temp Rinse Option

  • Improves wash performance when used in conjunction with rinse aid.
  • Used to improve dry performance.
  • Assists the natural, quiet convection drying process.
  • Does not allow temperatures to exceed 140 degrees Fahrenheit.
