Portable Dishwasher - Power Cord
All portable dishwashers come with a power cord. This article discusses the features and use of the power cord on a portable dishwasher.
Understanding the Proper Use of the Power Cord on a Portable Dishwasher
The power cord is a three-wire, 15-amp heavy-duty cord with a standard 3 prong grounding plug that fits into a 3-prong grounded receptacle. It is located at the top right corner as you face the rear of the dishwasher.
The power cord is 60" long when fully extended from the dishwasher and therefore should conveniently reach a receptacle near the sink for easy use. The 60" (5 feet) power cord is for portable dishwashers ONLY.
Built-in models are generally hard wired. Any dishwasher cord over 72" (6 feet) will void the warranty.
GE Appliances strongly recommends that an extension cord not be used with a dishwasher due to the potential safety hazards under certain conditions. However, if an extension cord is used, it is absolutely necessary that it be a 3-wire, 15-amp heavy-duty type with a standard 3-prong grounding plug, UL® (Underwriter Laboratories) approved.
For Dishwasher Storage: The cord and hose can be inserted into a storage pocket on the back of the dishwasher. Some 1980 and prior models have retractable cords.
Note: All hoses will extend 35" out from the back of the dishwasher.
