Dryer - Special Instructions for Linens/Bedding

You should check the care label or with the manufacturer of an item for specific drying instructions. The following are suggested instructions for drying linens and bedding.

Getting the Best Use of a Dryer With Linens and Bedding

Blankets

Put two or four dry towels into the dryer with the blanket and set the timer for 20 to 25 minutes. Do not set the control for more than 25 minutes. Dry only one blanket at a time. Remove the blanket at the end of the cycle and block the blanket back to its original shape. Allow the blanket to dry thoroughly before storing. Drying a blanket with warm, dry towels will help distribute the load, making it dry more evenly and more quickly.

Pillows

Check the ticking for holes or weak seams where feathers or filling could escape. Dry only one pillow at a time. Set the dryer for the maximum amount of time. Stop the dryer occasionally and shake the pillow to redistribute the filling for more even drying. Check the pillow at the end of drying time, if it is not completely dry, return the pillow to dryer and reset for more drying time. Feather pillows dry very slowly and must be dried completely to prevent mildew. Do not tumble dry pillows containing kapok. Kapok is the silky fiber around the seeds of certain tropical trees sometimes used for stuffing pillows or mattresses.

Extra Large Items (Queen or King Size Sheets, Blankets or Spreads, Mattress Covers/Pads)

Put the item in the dryer and dry for 20 minutes. Check and redistribute the load. Reset timer at 5 minutes intervals, checking after each five minutes to make sure that the articles do not fill the dryer drum. Many large articles, when wet, have ample room in the dryer, but as they dry and fluff, they may not have room to tumble.

Note: If large items do not have room to tumble, the air flow may be blocked, which could result in scorching your valuable items.

Note: Mattress covers/pads should be dried alone.
