Gas Range & Cooktop - Distance from Burner Cap to Grate

The surface burners on all gas ranges and cooktops do have a burner cap and a burner grate. The cap and grate are relatively close to each other since the burner flame is coming from the burner cap area.

Understanding the Distance Between the Burner Cap and Grate

The distance from the top of the burners to the top surface of the grate is approximately 1.5". The height will vary slightly (+/- .2") depending on the burner. The height of the grate is designed to provide optimal heating while also maintaining burner efficiency and safety.

Note: If the burner seems to be cooking too slow when using larger cookware, using a lid will decrease cooking time or the time to reach a boil.
