Venting Systems Infinite Fan Speed Control
Some older hoods have infinite fan speed controls; these controls could slide or rotate. This is not a feature on current models.
In addition, some infinite control models required a two-step process:
- The GE Profile Slide-Out hoods require two actions to operate. First you must place the hood in operation position by pulling out the glass visor, at least until the micro-switch engages (you can hear the "click" sound). The slider switch, when set all the way to the left, is in the OFF position. It must be moved at least slightly to the right for the hood to operate. To increase the speed, move the switch further to the right.
- Our downdraft hoods also have infinite fan speed controls; however, these controls are rotative switches. The same theory applies. Initially, two actions are required for the fan to operate. First you must place the hood in operation position by pressing the button to raise it. Once in position, the fan speed switch can be located on the right side panel. The switch must be moved to any position other than OFF, for the hood to operate. Rotating the switch clockwise, increases the speed.
For both of these hoods, if you leave the fan speed switch set to MEDIUM (or any setting other than OFF), they will come on and stay at that speed setting each time you put the hood in operation position.
