Range Problem Cleaners (Self-Clean & Continuous Clean)

Self-Clean Ovens:

  • No commercial oven cleaner even those stating for self-clean models (Easy OFF, etc.) of any kind should be used in or around any part of the self-clean oven.
  • If commercial oven cleaner has been used on the self-cleaning oven, be sure to remove all traces of cleaner prior to operating the self-cleaning cycle again. All oven cleaner residue should be rinsed with clear water by using a damp (not soaked) cloth or sponge.
  • Continuous use of chemical cleaners on a self-cleaning oven liner will cause etching and discoloration of the liner and eventually will not clean effectively with electric cleaning.
  • Do not use oven liners or pieces of foil to catch spillovers or to delay cleaning of the self-clean oven.

Continuous-Clean Ovens:

  • Continuous-clean interiors have special coating that will handle & remove small spills/spatters with use of the oven. For larger spills, the oven is equipped with a removable, replaceable aluminum oven bottom liner which protects the porous finish on the bottom of the oven from spillovers.
  • If soil becomes heavy on the porous surfaces, it is possible to remove by operating the oven at 400 degrees F for 4 hrs.
  • Important: The aluminum oven bottom must be removed before this operation. (this process may be repeated if necessary)
  • It is best to set the timer for this operation to make it convenient and controlled. CAUTION: During the operation of the oven, the door, window & other surfaces will get hot enough to cause burns. DO NOT TOUCH. Let the range cool before replacing aluminum oven bottom.
  • Do not use commercial oven cleaners in the continuous clean ovens - it can/will damage the porous surface.

Note: Continuous-Clean feature offered in both gas and electric ranges/ovens up to 1998. Offered in gas only 1999 - 2005.
