Upright Freezer - Error, Fault or Function Codes

Error, fault or function codes are programmed into many electronic upright freezer controls. These codes help GE Appliance Bodewell technicians quickly diagnose issues with the upright freezer.

 

Fault Codes

A summary of the most common fault codes and their meanings is listed below.

E and 7Button stuck for more than 30 seconds
E and 8Thermistor is shorted
E and 9Thermistor is open
 

In order to attempt clearing the code yourself, please follow the steps below:

 
  • Disconnect power to the upright freezer for 30 seconds.
  • Restore power.

GE Appliances does recommend unplugging the upright freezer until you have it serviced.
