Refrigerator - Electronic Temperature Controlled Drawer with Colored/White LED Lights

Some French Door style refrigerator models featured an Electronic Temperature Controlled Drawer with either colored or white LED lights. The Electronic Temperature Controlled Drawer was designed to take the guesswork out of how to properly store food.

 

Using the Electronic Temperature Controlled Drawer with Colored/White LED Lights on a Refrigerator

There are settings for the ideal temperature to store meat, beverages, produce, and on some models, cheese and citrus.

 
  • 32 degrees for meat
  • 34 degrees for beverages (the drawer was designed to fit a can of soda upright, so you can also use it as a beverage drawer)
  • 36 degrees for produce or "deli"
  • 38 degrees for cheese (On select models; not on current models)
  • 40 degrees for citrus (On select models; not on current models)

Colored LED lights (on previous models) lit up the full width of the temperature controlled drawer.

 
  • Red for meat
  • Blue for beverage
  • Green for produce or "deli"
  • Purple for citrus (On select models; not on current models)
  • Aqua for cheese (On select models; not on current models)

Modern White LEDs lights light up the full width of the temperature controlled drawer.

 
  • Effective April of 2019, a running change was made. Going forward, all French Door, Bottom Freezer models with Multi-Color LED lights in the full-width temperature-controlled drawer were upgraded to Modern White LED lights for better appearance.

About the LED Lights

  • They will come on in the appropriate color and then will turn to white after a few seconds (on previous models).
  • The LED lights are located in the top cover of the drawer. These are not consumer replaceable.
  • The LED lights come on when the door is opened and stay on even when the drawer is opened. LED lights use significantly less energy than incandescent lights.
