Hood & Over-the-Range Microwave - CFM Rating and Sones
As of February 2020, we use a third party (AHAM) to certify hoods for CFMs and Sones. The California Energy Commision approved AHAM's rating program as equivalent to HVI's Certification rating program. In effect, both the AHAM listing and HVI listing meet Title 24 requirements. Therefore, GE Appliances now uses AHAM to comply with California's Title 24 requirements. Both these programs were created to provide a fair and credible method of comparing ventilation performance of similar products. Prior to February 2020, we published CFM and Sones ratings based on HVI's testing, therefore, hoods tested by HVI do not have all speeds listed as a published rating. If a speed rating is not listed by HVI , we do not have a CFM or Sones rating to provide.

- Advantium ovens, and most over-the-range microwaves are not tested and rated.
- Only products vented to the outside have CFM ratings. Non-vented hoods do not have CFM ratings.
